Any NATS program should match up ... when I was with EGC I had a sponsor who tracked outgoing clicks and we were pretty much dead on.
We'd always have to explain our clicks to people because everyone got so reliant on first, second page uniques, etc and NATS counts true clicks.

Jay, just ensure you are filtering out spider requests etc. Those usually don't show in sponsor stats but with a raw redirect on your site it will show.Comment

I have tracked all my banner clicks for the last 2 years. I can tell you without a doubt, some of the biggest, best known programs couldn't count clicks if their lives depended on it. Their 1 in 200 ratio is in fact close to 1 in 4000 on clicks... but since they only appear to count join page uniques reset once monthly, their numbers look great.
I don't promote them anymore.
Even reported clicks now about well over 1 in 1000 pretty much across the board. Jay, I think you are going to be rather disgusted when you find out what the real conversion rates are.Comment

I completely agree, although for me the important figure is $ per impression.
Think about it. If every single link on a site simply said "click this", then the sponsor's tour would be the only thing - over time - impacting on sales and conversion ratios would matter more. But even if every click to every sponsor were created equal and they agreed on a single stats format, they still have different payout rates. The only constants which really make sponsor-sponsor comparison legitimate are exposure and income.
Even if you can figure out how a sponsor is recording your clicks, conversion ratios are utterly meaningless because they depend not only on the sponsor's tour(s) and honesty, but also on your links. The closer you get to a blind link, the more clicks you are likely to generate, but the worse your conversion ratio will be.
Unfortunately it isn't as simple as counting impressions. A sponsor promoted in a prime position should do much better than one with a secondary promo. Promo size and type matters too. So for comparisons to make sense, you either factor in reasonable adjustments, or else group different sponsors/tracking codes together, according to the value and type of exposure you give them.Comment

There could be a lot of reasons for stat discrepancies. For example some NATS programs don't count hits from countries they can't process.
