The "Palestinian territories" includes parts of Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and now Israel. This area was controlled by the British, under what is called the "British Mandate of Palestine". The Palestinians have never really had self determination - First they were ruled by the Ottoman Empire, then the British, and now pretty much the Israelis.

I know what the "British Mandate of Palestine" included, if we had to repeat it every time we referred to pre-Israel Palestine it would get tideous.

Your probably right, problem is if that is their best option many will think dying and taking with them as many Israelis/American as possible is a better way out
