That's opening up a brand new can of worms. And for the most it it's an incorrect statement.
The "Palestinian territories" includes parts of Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and now Israel. This area was controlled by the British, under what is called the "British Mandate of Palestine". The Palestinians have never really had self determination - First they were ruled by the Ottoman Empire, then the British, and now pretty much the Israelis. They don't have a country, do not have a real government, and are more or less represented by a terrorist group.
If you want self determination, you need to act like an adult. The first step is to stop tossing bombs onto your neighbor. (If Cananda was to start launching missiles into Seattle, don't you think the US would do something about it?) Ideally, a tract of (seaside) land could be set aside for the Palestinians to set up a country similar to Lebanon (but then again we've all seen how that has worked out for Lebanon). But when you refer to the last time the Arab world rose up and tried to take on Israel and got their asses kicked as "the setback", no one is going to be taking you seriously.
And you can see what is happening here. Israel is - very slowly - pushing all of the Palestinians out of the territory the Israels consider "their country". For better or for worse, wrong or right, this is exactly what is happening.
The Jewish race almost ended at the hand of the Nazis. They aren't going to let it happen again, which is why the Israeli military is what it is. Your not going to defeat the Israeli military. The only option is throw down your weapons, stop bombing Israel, and pray that your allowed to keep something. It might not be fair, but after sixty years of this it's their best option.
