i was in Stockholm when Anna Lindh was stabbed. the guy chased her through the department store with a big knife with her screaming for help as she ran past countless dozens of people including security guards and people just watched the guy chase her upstairs, into a small section of the store and stab her right in front of everyone. not one person made an effort to stop him. then everyone watched him causually jog out of the store and down the street.
that was totally surreal. completely unimaginable that no one would do anything at all... except watch.

A while back some guy saved another persons life on a New York rail, damn near killing himself. Some call that stupid, I call it honorable.
