i doubt thats true at all. they don't care about facts. thats like saying "PETA is violent and full of crap, so they won't have any members" - people believe in things that make them feel better about themselves and their existence... fact, reality and reason often play no role in those beliefs.

In Iceland, some angry women who have been abused and traumatized, found an external object to direct their anger and place blame for their pain... it was convienently an outside cause, a foreign cause and something far away that they will never have to directly confront with reasoned and rational debate... and they won. in their minds, they feel a small victory in what will no doubt, be a lifelong battle with their own demons. there is great irony in the idea of some sort of success on their part. tomorrow, they will still be hurting, troubled and in pain. tomorrow, the porn industry will remain totally unchanged.

You seem to have won and can celebrate a victory.

Being lied about and socially ostracized like I have been recently in the Icelandic media by your organization, I now have an idea how it must feel to be powerless against irrational, uncontrollable anger.

In effect, you basically denied a Canadian with Icelandic roots and no criminal record the ability to visit the land of his forefathers for a vacation. Something I have looked forward to for many years.

Did you affect the operations of the online adult industry at all? No. You interrupted the vacation time of some website owners who run legal operations. You had the opportunity to meet and discuss (with many of the highest traffic websites in the world) your concerns, but instead you chose to pass. You avoided the opportunity to effect what may have been positive change in the industry, and opted instead for terrorist tactics and lies, and had us cancel our vacation time so we could stay home and work more.

I honestly would have liked to have met with representatives of your organization to see if there was anything we could do in our operations to be more sensitive to the needs of groups like yours. I currently work with several groups and adhere to principles and practices that we helped to establish for many businesses in the online adult community. I honestly feel your behavior in this matter only sets up an environment of hate, revenge and mistrust. I hope that you can overcome your anger someday, and I feel that if you ever wish to break the chains of oppression it will be done with agreements, understanding and rational negotiation.

Knowing the horrors many of you have gone though, I can forgive you for this overzealous behavior, and hope that in your hearts you have the courage to one day sit down and talk with myself, or other representatives of the online adult community, to discuss viewpoints and hopefully incorporate change and understanding for both of us in a more positive direction.

If you ever come to Canada I would be happy to extend an invitation to representatives of your organization to lunch or dinner and discuss this further in a civil manner. On me.

Someday I hope we can move towards change. As a suggestion, maybe in the future you can contact organizations like snowagthering or myself directly with your concerns before going to the media, in an effort of cooperation, goodwill and trust.

I believe this fiasco represents an interesting PR opportunity for our industry as a whole.

This story has all the incredients of an interesting story in mainsteam media in other (non-nordic) countries - a nice little sex drama combo that I am sure the tabloids would pick up on.

This would highlight PETA's ignorance on porn, Radisson's hyprocracy, and highlight that through ACACP the industry is working to help combat child porn.

We could also throw in that far from exploiting women, porn actually celebrates women in all their wonderful shapes and sizes - unlike mainstrean, which does not.

A properly structured PR could actually turn this whole thing to our advantage, not to mention some nice publicity for Freeones and Sleazy
