    Going to Bali- any suggestions?

I am heading to Bali for two weeks and will be in Syminyak for a few days, Ubud for a few days, Lombok a few and then Jimbaran for a few....

Anyone have any good suggestions for "must do, must see" things while there.

You must walk closely by foot to the thing you wish to see.

Did Java/Bali/Lombok myself last year. What are you looking for? Relax and be lazy or you want to travel around a bit?

Rent a bike and drive around the island. Lovina has a great black sand beach. There is a volcano in the middle of the island. Sanur is laid back but has life and is a bit developed. There is a bat cave worth seeing outside of Sanur on the way back to Kuta.

By the way, Kuta and the surrounding areas are shit. Get to Ubud as fast as you can by bike and drive around.

Looking to relax and be lazy, need some long time coming down time... need some R&R... we are staying in 4 different locations. When we are on Lombok we are actually going to be in our friends wedding. The wedding is a government affair as his fiance is royalty so that will be amazing. But the first and last half of our trip outside of Lombok is the R&R.

I stayed at the Bali Hyatt back in 1977 !

The little tribes people in the jungles really thought that you would take thier souls away, if you took their photos... Sweet !

I also went to 'The Island Of The Dead'... Run by monks. You got in this boat, and went to an island in the middle of a lake, and there were like all these dead people there. Just skeletons mostly, just laying about, and there were rats there as well !

don't drink the water and bring something for when you get sick...i lost 4 days cause I couldn't go further than 10 feet from a toilet without my pipes unloading...on the good side, I did lose some weight that trip...

Stay at the Melia Bali resort. I stayed there for a couple of weeks. Loved it.

Tons of great golf course, think there's one on Lombok too if I remember.

Every village in Bali makes something different. For example one will work with carved wood, the next will do gold and silver, the next bamboo and so on. Very cool.

i agree Ubud is the place to head to. Kuta beach is a tourist shithole.

Go to the monkey forest at Sangeh (if it's still there) and watch Japanese tourists losing their caps, wallets and camera's to the thieving simians. They also like to piss on tourists too if you're stupid enough to let one sit on you. Great times!
Also the mother temple at Besakih is really quite some thing. Climb Mount Agung and although touristy, the sunsets at Kuta & Ulu Watu can't be beaten!
