Anyone had a Root Canal Done.. Vicodin?

While at Xbiz in Hollywood.. I had a filling fall out ..
It has been hurting so bad..
so Monday I will be having a root canal... AHHHHH!!!

The Dentist gave me some pills called Vicodin..
I took one last night around 7pm.. and it wired me up like crazy until around 3am..

It does make the pain go away.. but I dont like the wired out feeling..

Any suggestions as to what else I could take besides this Vicodin.. something that will make it stop hurting and mellow me out so I can go to sleep instead??

I dread having a root canal sooooo bad..It sounds really really bad

My dentist gave me NOVO-PROFEN 600mg when my teeth were hurt but it was because i had a high velocity impact and there was inflammation. Not sure if that could help you out... I think you're better with the dentist's advice.

Sorry you're in pain - never had a root canal nor Vicodin. For some reason I thought Vicodin was something that would knock you out?

Weird but True, Half the Population do get Wired while on Opiates such as Vicodin. Maybe try taking IBrofen for the Swelling and ask for Tylonal 3 with Codeine instead of the Opiate Hydrocodone which is in Vicodin..

I've had so much dental work done to my teeth.... my dentist and I become good friends. And I was always in pain so he kept in swimming in Vicodin. I got into a bad habit of taking a Vicodin before I left for the dentist, and one when I got there.

One time - going in for two root canals - I decided to double the dosage. I took two before I left the house, and two more once I got there. I had to wait a bit before I saw the dentist and when they finally called my name I stood up and.... that was the last thing I remembered.

I woke up a few mintues later with medics all around me - they had called 911 on me!

I get them for bad headaches and the do give me a bit of a wired effect in the first hour. then the pain goes away and i feel normal . I found that when i have that wired feeling i think I'm getting shit done but I'm really just jumping from thing to thing and getting nothing done. I only take them when i really have to... but it is a good feeling ...lol

Yeah, Toradol is awesome. Used to take it for back pain after a car accident so I could still function at work in the day.

I had my first root canal last year, wasn't nearly as bad as everyone I know made it out to be, didn't feel any different than getting a filling for me, doc gave me a combo of vicodin and 800mg ibuprofen.

I am like you, I get hyper as shit on it....

in fact, it is the only thing that sets my mind into "focus" mode, I get so much work done and the ideas just flow all night long

I can't get it much anymore though, my back is not hurting anymore

Codeine makes me puke.

Always be careful taking too much of this stuff. After taking Extra Strength Excedrin for 10+ years for migraines, I ended up with a bleeding ulcer.

Sorry to hear that you're in pain dear....

You can also take Ibuprofen, as someone else told you / Motrin.

and I had Novoclindamycin, which is an alternate for Penicilin....which calms the infection and pain.

Gurl! Can't believe you are only just now getting this taken care of! Sorry you are in so much pain sweetie. I pass the f*&$ out on vicodin. That thing I took 1/2 of at xbiz did the opposite, maybe it will work for you. It was called a Lortab. Could have been a combination of things that got my party started though. Root canals are not that painful. You are numbed up good during the procedure and then once it is done there is no nerve left to cause you pain. If it is hurting you now, you will feel 100 X's better once the root canal is done.

I've had two root canals. They gave me Vicoprophin. I can't have acitaminiphin (i.e. Vicadin). It dulled the pain at best.
