He's worked heavily as producer for Aaliyah, Missy, Ginuwine, Justin Timberlake... but he's also produced hits for a bunch of other artists. "Put You On The Game" by The Game and "Dirt off Your Shoulder" by Jay-Z come to mind

Producer is a term used more lightly in hiphop... It can mean making the beat (everything but the lyrics on a song). OR it can mean making the beat, working with the artist, coming up with the melodies for the singing, contributing to lyrics and basically running the whole shit.
Take Justin Timberlakes latest album, which is actually pretty hot. Timberland made the beats. I believe he also comes up with most of justins lyrics and at least the tune he sings them in. Anyone could come in and replace justin, and it would still be a hit.

Scott Storch was Dres understudy and in-house keyboardist for a while. Especially in the days of Chronic 2001. There have been a loooooooooooot of famous Dre beats for which Storch came up with and played the melodies. Many, many beats. But for the majority of them, he was not credited for since he was part of the Aftermath camp.
as far as whos better....I would say Timbo is the better producer. Hes the kind of producer that dosnt hand over a beat and step away. He really works hands on with the artists he produces for. And his consistency is amazing. So are his drums. Storch is very dependent on melodies where as Timbo is more focused on drums, swing, groove and experimenting with sounds in general.
Timbaland takes the cake.
