I was going to need to upgrade my laptop. I didn't feel like the hardware issues with Vista, and the Macbooks were an attractive alternative.

I just bought a new laptop tonight. DREADED getting vista instead of XP, but the rest of the computer was perfect. Took about 2 hours to make it look like windows classic, but still got a funky pane on the left side of all my open folders, and whenever I do just about anything it does a popup asking me if I wanted to do what I just did. HUGE pain in the ass. I'm still not quite sure where my documents went, and what the fuck are public folders? I've got a few more hours on google to get this thing usable.

Oh, btw - I have no idea what vista even looks like as I switched to the classic view right after login. If I wanted fancy menus and see-through folders I'd have gotten a mac.

If Steve Ballmer would like to trade me a Windows XP Home I'll gladly give up my key for this vista crap, so he can have an extra one to sell.
