anyone know how to bypass XP password on startup?

    anyone know how to bypass XP password on startup?

    My Brother in law has an older machine that has XP on it and he wants to give it to his mom. The problem is he can't remember the password to get into XP. We know how to bypass it from a command prompt but XP won't let us get to a command prompt without going thru windows first.

    Is there a way to get to a C Prompt without going thru XP?

          try username administrator and password administrator there is a default admin account setup this should work

                      startup in safe mode ( tap f8 while loading ) create a new user in safe mode, then restart and use that user

                              boot up in safe mode, go in as admin

                              go into control panel, then USER ACCOUNTS. select user and remove password.

                              restart

                              that should work.

                                  Smokey... it's an XP pro. Even in safe mode it still asks for a user and pass. I fucking hate XP. I'll never upgrade from 2Kpro.

                                      Find the factory reset button on the box(if it has one) or use the "reset to factory" disc.

                                      Then start from scratch.
                                      Done.

                                                          There's a software that, if burnt to a cd as a boot disk, can help you solve this issue. I can look up its name for you later. I've used it before and it worked like a charm.
