    Windows Vista thumbnail caching is sloooooow!

    Man it's rediculously slow. It takes 3 freaking hours to pick a thumbnail from a dir with 2000 jpgs in it. Its allmost unusable. Vista is ALOT slower then xp!!!!

                              Yes, your machine could be the problem. All you need is just an upgrade. But I would stick to xp for now.

                                      upgrade my ass. I have a dual xeon 3.06 with 2 raptors running in raid with 2 gig ram and a x850pe. It's Vista. The only thing that might be causing the problem would be the fact I upgrade instead of clean install. Everything works fine it just caches thumbs really fucking slow.
