man, that is fucked up big time

I was watcing some reality show the other day and one of the kids was talking about how they had sex-education class, and the class taught them actually about HAVING sex....this was 6th grade....WTF!

I suppose because jr high students are old enough to understand the subject matter. I believe that's when Sexed is taught. I think I got it in grade 8.

I'm by no means agreeing with the whack job Donny and his ********* friends, but I don't think it's inappropriate to have some adult conversations with Jr. highschool aged kids.

No doubt. You ever try to tell a 17 year old anything? It's not possible. If you actually want to teach something you see as a "value", you have to do it long before the child is well on the way to being an adult.

Now the real value of these "values" is certainly questionable, but I don't see the age group as too young.

Probably not until 3rd graders are growing boobs and surfing internet porn.

When you were in jr. highschool, you didn't know porn existed at all? Come on, in this day and age, kids are on computers and they know porn exists.

If your particular set of morale values doesn't include porn, and you want your children to also share those values, when would you suggest the age is appropriate?

More Kids Exposed Internet Porn

A new study suggests that an increasing number of children and teens are being exposed to online pornography.

And in most cases, it's because they accidentally come across sexually-explicit Web sites while surfing the Internet.

University of New Hampshire researchers found that 42 percent of Internet users ages ten to 17 said they had seen online pornography in a recent 12-month span.

Of those, two-thirds said they hadn't sought it out.

I dont think it has to go that far but 9th grade is too late.When my friend's daughter was 11,they had moved here from FL. She made some friends and when they were all hanging out with some boys. She saw something troubling so she went home and asked her mother about what she saw. The other girls were giving Bj's at 11 yrs old. Like I said 9th grade is way too late,my friend was freaking out.

Knowledge is power the more they know the better their judgement can be. As if they aren't already looking at porn. I had the net's porn sites locked down at 13 lol come on. Atleast this gives them an outlet to discuess things and answer questions regarding a 'tabboo' topic. If you want the kids to make better choices education them on everything always be truthful and allow them moments to use their knowledge to make judgements.

They are hardcore fundamentalists that talk out of both sides of their mouth -- a marketing technique for evangelicals pioneered by Ralph Reed, now used extensively by evangelicals and extraordinarily effective in American culture because of the lack of critical thinking skills in our population. The religious right knows this, and uses it to their advantage.

On one hand "Jesus loves Porn Stars" and on the other hand, "Your genitals are sinful and nasty and you are going to hell for touching them."

Their traveling sideshow is for titillation purposes, clearly they are the "Reefer Madness" of the adult industry. Years ago when Hollywood would not show drug or sex films, films like "Reefer Madness" "Sex Madness" and other "exploitation" productions were slid under the radar of Hollywood censors by presenting an "anti" or "warning" about these moral menaces to society, in great graphic detail of course. Their sideshow is really "porn for fundamentalists" (titillation) more than anything else. Fundamentalists can indulge in the "gutter" while retaining their godly and sin free status amongst peers. I don't think their material is appropriate for kids either, which is what they seem to be pushing -- titillation to junior high children.

Give them credit, it's a great gimmick and a slick way of making money.

I don't think it's wrong to be talking to kids about sex at that age. They should know the basics, know about protection, pregnancy, and of course STDs. Basically sex education that is taught at a level that won't harm a child.

But this isn't sex education. This is brainwashing kids into a belief held by a group of individuals. Telling kids that porn is the devil and masturbation is a sin is plain wrong. That is the responsibility of the parent to pass on what they believe to their child.

So stop giving people like this exposure. It's what they want. They just want their name on TV, their face in an article and so on. I'm sure that religion to them is nothing more than a tax exempt status. It's why Donny has to IM and e-mail people from the board daily, why he needed to try and destroy people's lives. This isn't something a religious leader would do, it's something that someone exploiting religion for personal gain would do.

So stop giving them exposure. It's a pathetic group that jerks off to their yearly 15 second clip on some news channel. No one outside of their religion takes them serious, and not many people within it do either.
