If all goes as planned, I'll be starting college, yes COLLEGE, in September. What a riot it was to walk around campus when I took my tests with a bunch of punk ass kids. Reminded me of a webmaster convention except there were more backpacks.

Well, I wish I had exciting adventures to share but I pretty much did nothing. Shut everyone out, read alot, tv, facebook gaming, lol...etc. Before I knew it, a whole year went by.
Actually, on Mothers day last year, I decided to move back to my hometown after being out in the woods an hour away for almost a year. So this whole year has been spent tinkering around in my new apartment, getting out in public again, and enjoying my daughter and being close again to my family and friends.
I was in no shape to work at all, even part time. When I dedicate myself to doing something, I like to go full force or not at all. You really can't do this kind of work a few hours here and there. It doesn't work very well at all. And the waves of grieving would just come out of nowhere and floor me for days or weeks at a time to where I couldn't do anything at all.
I learned that year 2 and 3 are supposed to be the worst so I'm coming up on completing year 3 in two weeks on the 21st. So, basically it STILL sucks just as bad as a year ago or more but I got the skills now to roll with it much better. I'm thinking this is as good as it's going to get so I can start living life as everything "is" now.
So I'm just eating healthy and jogging a bit (I gained weight ugh), started writing a book, applied for college, and the best and most amazing part... I quit smoking!!
There's pretty much nothing I can't take on or handle now so I'm officially back in the saddle and ready to live life as well as I can with the cards I got handed. It's sink or swim!

Oh...and congrats on quitting smoking - I quit last year too - no one can believe it yet
(But I only quit because of the most amazing person I've ever met -- my daughter, who turned 2 in February )

MikeSmoke, Yeah that amount of time sounds pretty high but I realize now that it's very normal to be "off" in many different stages and aspects for at least that long. It'll be much longer I know already but for my daughter, I've worked very very hard to keep a balance for both of us. We had about a year of non related extra trauma, abuse, and horrific sabotage that really offset our road to healing as well. Luckily, the authorities have been just fantastic this whole year with me and helped keep us safe and sound.
I'm so glad you quit smoking. I never though I'd see the day! And what better reason? I decided on it because of my daughter too. Her dad, you remember Todd? He had open heart surgery and almost died in the summer of 08... It wasn't hard either. Just stopped and that was that. I've helped quite a few other people do it too lately and that feels good too. No one can say "I can't"... I will never buy that line for the rest of my life. lol
School will consist of the RN program and perhaps the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) depending how sick I am of being in school by then. I might stop at RN since there's a few specialties that I know I'd excel at.
Anyway... glad to be back.. would love to work again too! I don't NEED to but I'd love to. We shall see.. the future is wide open.Last edited by RRRED; 05-07-2010, 10:50 PM.Comment
