here is some basic math.
lets say worst case zango is costing me 5%
i have 7 years of renewals with AFF. they represent more than 2/3 of my month to month volume, and more like 4/5. zango would only effect 5% of my NEW volume - or less than 1% of my total.
if i bail on aff i miss my goals and don't make my bonus. the bonus is on the new sales AND the renewals. I make more even with zango fucking me then if I bailed on aff. so I can't bail.
why the fuck would i bail on that income? I'm not a moron. If i had new sales only maybe i would bail - but i'm locked in. and so are most other old sites - you don't see ANY of them bailing on AFF - NONE. NOT ONE - and it's for the same reason.
so why the fuck would i bail on aff for the zango thing - basic math. that's why.
I and MANY MANY MANY other sites CAN'T get out without losing HUGE money.
i have NEVER supported zango and have given aff shit for using them but it's not my company and they make their own decisions.
and I still think your a total fucking jealous moron will76.

If people believe you are, blame the board persona you chose to create. As to the superficial logic of the rest of that post, it doesn't bear too much examination.
Regardless of the reality that for the reasons you describe, in the short term this episode may not have cost sponsors using Zango very much money, AFF and cams.com in particular have gone from being almost universally admired to being despised or at best, tolerated. Which means that over the next 5-10 years, as sites like yours fade from the scene, they will increasingly feel the impact.
There are two possibilities. One is that the people running these programs are nowhere near as smart as we believe and they simply didn't anticipate the reaction. That isn't too likely in view of Lars' unrepentent attitude once it blew up.
The other is that they were already planning to work without affiliates, so they really didn't care if this made the smaller ones drop. They anticipated that bigger affiliates would react as you have. Which is fine for you, so long as this is as far as they are going.
But they basically have you by the short and curlies. As soon as you try to reduce the risk of being so heavily exposed to someone who might be considering doing without affiliates altogether, there goes your bonus, etc. As dumb as you try to tell the rest of us we are, you got yourself into this situation by allowing yourself to become so dependent on one income source. That's about as dumb as it gets...Comment

but it blows me away how everyone here on one business deal will bail on a company that has litterally paid out more to webmasters than any other adult paysite on the net.
