I switched from Smart FTP to filezilla, probably not the best choice if you have 100s of sites but it does the job
Flash FTP is the best IMO if you don't mind spending a few bucksComment

I just use dreamweaver now, works beautifully. Wow, surprising to me. I use smartftp and it seems fine to me, maybe I should try something else to see what I'm missing.
I know that smartftp requires you to set file extentions for binary and text uploads and things will screw up if you forget a file extention.
That's not an smartftp "problem" though.Done.Comment
