I'm not so sure that is 100% correct. There are many states where you can't get a driver's license and you can't get a social security card. Illegals can get a form of ID that shows they are here on a temporary basis, but it isn't a social security card. What some of them do is come here then have kids and those kids are US citizens so they get social security numbers. Also a lot of illegals just use a fake social security number. There was a woman working a grocery store a friend of mine worked at that had a fake social security card. She used it to work there for 13 years. She was in the union, had bought a car and a house using it and only after 13 years did the IRS catch on and report her.
As for free health care. . . there are some clinics that help them for free, but mostly they go to the ER and urgent care centers where they don't pay the bill. They get welfare by having kids while living here then that kid gets the social security number and they can use them to get welfare, food stamps and other things. The same goes for rent and housing help and the kids that are US citizens get to go to public school.
But if you don't have a kid that is born here and is a US citizen then you will have a very difficult time getting any of those things. That is why many illegals come here and quickly have kids because it will make staying here a lot easier.
