advice selling goinggreen.com

I have a friend who owns goinggreen.com. They haven't done too much with it to make money just a blog and had some google ads but just removed them. They are looking to sell it and have been offered 3 million so far but she is set on getting over 12 for some reason. She had seen that discovery channel just bought a domain for some kind of environmentalist thing and paid 10.5 million so she is thinking she can get more.

She had google ads on there and was doing ok but thought about maybe trying to see if google wanted to purchase it so they removed the ads thinking for some reason it would give them better leverage in dealing with them if they weren't making google money for nothing.

So does anyone have any info or advice on selling high end domains like this? I just mainly build websites that don't have tons spent on domain names so I was hoping there would be a couple people with some helpful info for me to pass on.

Nice name.

If you really think it's worth something, you may want to go to a board that specializes in high level domains or hire a broker for you. Also get it appraised.

she sounds like an idiot. as far as i know there has been no sale to discovery for 10 mil...sex.com will be lucky to sell for 10 mil when its up for auction again. if she turned down 3 million she is a total utter moron. no offense personally but some people need to come back down to earth.

That is exactly what I told her husband. He is who I have been talking to and I said she better jump at that offer cause when people stop caring about the environment it won't be worth shit unless they want to wait till Marijuana becomes legal.

I honestly have no idea what it should be worth but I guess I can check out some of those brokers or something like that. I am just not sure how to help them without getting caught up in some scam since I imagine there are alot of scams with domain sales.

Dude, if she's been offered $3 million she should take it and run. That's a ridiculous price for that domain. Make sure it's not a scammer that offered that.

I'd say she should contact Moniker or Rick Latona if she's really serious about selling it. In reality it's probably a mid-5 to MAYBE low 6-figure domain to the right buyer. Green.com is maybe barely worth $3 million if that let alone GoingGreen.com.

to be honest its not a bad name but its not gogreen.com.

tell her to take 3 mill if somone was daft to offer that.

no one else will.

its not that good a name.

chances are the person who offered 3 million has bought somthing else and she will be holding on to that domain the rest of her life expecting to make millions from it.

and chances are that 10 million may have inc the website plus a lot of traffic.

to be honest i think she has blown it big time. got greedy, and has lost out on the biggest cash she will ever see.

that name is worth 1k at the most.

I would not get involved as they will only blame you if anything goes wrong.

Why would google buy it?

if it was gogree.com then it would be an ok domain name but goinggreen.com is nothing that great.

if i was you i would tell her to email all the big firms and tell them they she wants 10 million for it. it will not get sold, but it will give many people a chuckle when they read the email.

and i bet she was not making a great deal on the google adverts. if she was she should put them back up and live off what she makes from them.

in truth i do not belive she was offered 3 million for it. i think she missread the email. i think the 3 million was from a millionair from chad who has to get out of the country quick, and could he deposit 3 million into her bank account, and he will split the 3 million 50/50 at a later date.
