What do you guys think of WD hard drives?

I just purchased this because my 200gb drive is almost all used up.

I just ordered this. Is WD a good product?

Their not bad drives imo, but used to be a lot better in the past.

i recently had a ton of wd's fail me, but then again they still do make great drives. maxtor as well. but by far, my favorite right now tends to be seagate... haven't had many fail me in the past couple years like maxtor/wd's have.

seagate>wd>maxtor - stay away from fujitsu's completely, just relabel'd ibm deathstars haha

any hd can go bad, hence my list of pref above - but fujitsu's/ibm will just break period lol.

Yeah, I currently have a Maxtor 200g drive. It's amazing how fast they fill up. I've never gone with a WD so I'm hoping it does well.

In general it's all a numbers game on hard drives. I guess now I've bought over a thousand or more and they simply fail at a relatively low rate in general. Western Digital's best drives are the Raptor series. Outside of that, Seagate makes some pretty good drives and I actually really like Hitachi. In general, you can always look for the 'raid edition' or 'enterprise' grade of the same drive in a different version, usually they are 10-15% more but include a better warranty and *might* actually be better drives.

                  Cheers,
