    Stephen Hawking says we shouldn't talk to aliens.

    Says they might just want to mine earth for our resources. I think it's kinda of a dumb idea. Haven't we humans pretty much taken most it out already? They're going to come all this way to take what? Honestly think about it.

          just as humans will kill anything, I have no doubt that any life form coming here would react tp us the same way.

          Its fairy fun and lovely to hope aliens are going to be nice, but I am with Hawkins here, if they come, they will not be friendly, and will most likely it will be a battle. for life.

                                      Well, Amp Logic says that, any aliens intelligent enough to actually travel to Earth and pose a threat to us must certainly be intelligent enough to realize that we've also got enough nukes to take out all of us, them, and the rest of the entire ball of dirt. Back an animal (human) into a corner and there probably won't be anything left to 'harvest' or fight over.

                                      I believe that, at the core when the chips are down, we are a species that generally accepts the notion of "If you're taking us out, we're taking you with us." which, to an intelligent species would be enough saber rattling to reconsider.

                                      But then I was a soldier, not a theoretical physicist.

If they have tech to travel through light years of space, then they probably have developed protection from nuclear reactions.

                                                                                                              Another option could be that the aliens are so advanced, that they are simply exploring the universe, with no ulterior motives at all. Their innocent plan is to visit Earth in peace, take some pictures and notes, and leave. Just another log entry in their report.

                                                                                                              But now, thanks to Stevie, most people will think they are coming with a dangerous agenda. Out of unfounded paranoia, we will immediately fire primitive weapons at them before they land, and in response they will blow us up instead.
