I don't know too much about Obama (other than folks seem to love him here in Chicago), but from what I've seen just the very limited number of interviews/etc. he seems like a decent, smart guy.
I wish more people voted on the actual PERSON rather than the stupid useless party.
That said, I feel Ventura was one of the most interesting and down to earth people in politics I've ever followed. So perhaps I'm a bit off the norm.
