This is one of my favorite debates in the industry. I will not state my position until I get a few replies, just to see what others have to say about this.

If you have traffic, you have customers.
So, traffic is King.

Traffic definetly
Lets take 2 programs
A: has 10x more traffic but 10x less content
B: has 10x more content but 10X less traffic
A makes more $ then B, because 10x less content doesn't mean 10x less retention.
Easy formula.Signed nick3131

Very few people in Adult care about quality of content but that seems to be changing

Your comment only applies if you assume one without the other. But that's not really the question.. The question implies there is some of both, but which one is more important..
Think of it this way... What should you spend the majority of your time focusing on.... You can sell crap with plenty of traffic so IMO traffic is the most important thing.Comment

you think Karups, ATK or Twistys would make the same with shitty content and just 20 sets?Comment

Depends what each costs you. How else could you compare the value?Comment

You will notice all of the noobs voting for "Traffic is King". I pose this to all of you... If you build a store that is empty, then advertise the hell out of it, and pack the building full of people... Will you become rich? Nope. You have nothing to sell.
However, if you pack a store with product, then open the doors, with minimal marketing, you will make money.
Obviously you need both to be successful and grow, however, putting the cart before the horse never works. Send traffic to a blank page and see how much $ you earn from it.
This debate has been settled many times over. I don't understand where the disconnect is with you people.
Content is King. Traffic is Queen. Together they can build a Kingdom.
Move along. This is once again... Settled.Need Mushrooms Designed? Gimme-WebsiteComment

You can make money with a shit load of traffic but crap content.
You can't make any money with no traffic and great content.

content is king. but then again, im thinking for seo ;)
honestly, i do much better with 1000 visitors a day from se that i know what they are searching for, so i can optmize the page, then 10k random visiotrs that are looking for just something to beat their meat toEmail: Clicky on MeComment

Traffic is king for me. I can shoot content all day and have nobody to sell it to without traffic.Comment

well - lets look at the brokers
I honeslty don't think the big content brokers make as much as the traffic brokers.
just my opinion
one traffic broker being google.....This dog, is dog, a dog, good dog, way dog, to dog, keep dog, an dog, idiot dog, busy dog, for dog, 20 dog, seconds dog!
Now read without the word dog.Comment
-
Absolutely, but if there were no content whom would they be brokering traffic to? Or WHAT traffic, to begin with?
Whitehat is for chumps
If you don't do it, somebody else will - true story!Comment

You're looking at it from a very idealistic perspective.
Sure you're right, no content, no market, no industry. No way to argue against that, its common sense.
But the fact is, there is content everywhere. Its easy to get, and fairly cheap, and only getting cheaper. Where as good quality traffic is getting harder and more expensive to attain.
What % of a startup affilliate program budget will be spent on traffic vs content. I would figure at least a 70/30 ratio, and thats being generous.Signed nick3131
