My buddy was an air force vet, only 28 years old. The woman that killed him had a prior dui, she blew over twice the legal limit and had pills in her purse. She hit him from behind while he was at a red light, and the accident was so bad you could barely tell two cars involved.

I dunno why I'm posting this, just pissed and wanting to vent I guess.

I feel for you. My best friend was killed shortly before his 21st birthday by a drunk driver that was doing well over 100mph, lost control and hit them head-on. Killed my friend and his girlfriend but the drunk kid walked away. He ended up getting 40 years in prison for it. Sorry you are having to go through the aftermath of something like that as well.

Looks like with our law in NV a DUI resulting in death is a minimum of 2 years in jail with a max of 20. Hope they stick it to her.

If you are that far over the limit, then you deserve to sit in jail if caught... if you kill someone, you should be locked in an 8' X 10' cell for life

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It sounds like your friend didn't suffer, if that is any condolence.

I got t-boned by a drunk bitch on the 210 Fwy in Cali. I saw her swerve to the right shoulder and passed her, next thing I knew she was coming directly at me across 4 lanes of traffic, plowed into me, pushed me into the cement median and spun my car around. Had her car not broken in half 200 yards away, she would have kept on going.

I was lucky, escaping with 2nd degree airbag burns and soft tissue damage. Took about 3 months to heal.

Dumb bitch showed up to her court hearing in high heels and crutches. She had no idea I was sitting behind her so I could over hear her bitching about her broken ankle and how she has to do restitution, then she asked her friend what he got when totalled his car after drinking.

She had the nerve to plea for inside, easy work, but the judge said since she had previous DUI's she was not getting any leniency, and next time, if she was going to fake a bad ankle not to wear high heels. She got off easy still, only a year of picking up litter on the highways.

I think they should impose those breathalizers that don't let you even start your car if you had alcohol to anyone who has gotten a DUI. Way too many drunks out there on the roads.

Same situation pretty much, I'm sorry for your loss as well. I heard this chick was going about 85mph. It was enough force to push him across the intersection and into a pole. She walked away from it, and my buddy died at the hospital.

I hope they stick it to her too. Her lawyer asked for 50k bail, the judge gave her 100,000 bail. She posted it, she's out now. Next court appearance is in October, so she gets to continue to party it up for the summer.

Unfortunately, very few drunk drivers who kill get 40 years. My neighbor in Santa Barbara had her 28 year old husband, who was in training as a road cyclist, killed by an alcoholic who tried to overtake a line of cars on the shoulder--which happened to be a bike lane as he wasn't on a stretch of freeway... and he got 10 years and was out in 5. This is all life is worth, I guess, in the land of the automobile.
