There is no other profession where the 'contest' (work for free, get paid only if you're chosen) would be acceptable.
If I asked for all content producers to go through all the work and shoot a custom set for me, and I'll pay the one that I like best... they would all laugh. Same goes for any other profession. People who participate in design contests hurt the entire profession by acting like bums holding cardboard signs. The holder of the contest is able to choose from a number of entries, but receives the lowest grade work available because they don't want to pay acceptable rates from a skilled designer. man i am as designer happy if i can try something else, and every contest is something else, so why dont put into few minutes, with every design you are trying something new so its good for creativity

How do you know that someone isn't using some of your work and never paid for it? Do you consistently follow up behind every contest you do? Suppose the contest holder picks the logo from another guy. In 4 months he decides to use yours instead. Let's say he figures he's already paid for a logo and should be able to pick from any that were submitted. Do you follow these people around forever making sure they aren't using your work?
I'm a professional. I work for a fee, not for free. If I need to practice I can do that here by myself and not get paid, and not put substandard work into the world for a lottery chance at making bottom dollar.SIG TOO BIGComment
