If I was looking for a job, I definetly wouldnt mind banking 75k/year driving a UPS truck. Those guys hustle all day long but its definetly not HARD work.
I have a couple friends of friends that drive for them...they love it. work 10 years + there.
And these were the stoner group out of my High School so for them it was their best option lol.
Many of those guys work a ton of overtime. Long ago when I worked for Radio Shack I would talk to the UPS driver that would pick up and deliver to us. He was one of only three guys in the city we were in. He said he would regularly get to work about 7am to check his truck then hit the road and often wouldn't get back to the warehouse until 6pm or later.
If you can handle the hours and the moderate lifting though, driving one of those trucks is a good living.

If that's a salary, I'll bet it's not for 40 hours cause those guys don't work 40 hours and I'll bet that includes the OT you'll be doing. If you want to make real cash become a California prison guard. They are changing things now, but with OT those guys were making well over 100k. I have stories of 150 and 200 and ups. No shit.
All you need is a clean rap sheet, so you can see the problems finding someone like that in CA
I don't think the day of a delivery driver is quite as easy as portrayed in King of Queens...........
Training sounds pretty hard, and little time for slacking off when working.
Yes.......there is NO slacking time. The trucks are monitored via GPS and the time it takes to do the route is predetermined. You don't get it done in the allotted time you have some explaining to do.
If you can bust your ass........and I mean bust your ass hard, 12 or more hours a day......more during Christmas then this is a great job. I have a great deal of respect for UPS drivers and know quite a few of them. Fantastic work ethics and the company treats you good via wage and benefits. The job is not for everyone though and your really don't have much of a life other than your job. I know I couldn't do it.

I've had my UPS guy call me at 7 p.m. telling me that he forgot to drop something off and would do it the next day instead. The same UPS guy that would normally do drops in the morning. So yeh, definitely long hours.

It's a terrific company to work for... it's not uncommon for someone who started as a package handler, store clerk or driver to become part of top management or a franchise store owner.
Fuck this internet shit. I`m getting a plow truck...
Me too. If I had any brains I would have bought a truck early this past December, where I would have had4 snowstorms to plow out of and made some serious bank. I'm talking multiple thousands in just a few days.
But I might not have made the wrong decision. I chose Pattaya Thailand for the winter instead. Going 3 months strong next week. Hmmmmm.
I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I wish I was drinking wine instead.

Garbage Trucks = Waste Management = lots of gabagoo!
I knew quite a few people that worked for UPS back in the day, they all said it was slave labor. I bet 75% of you guys who sit in front of your computers the majority of the day couldn't do it..

Last thing I want to do is guard a bunch of criminal blacks and mexicans. One little flinch and I'd be unloading whatever weapon they gave me. Not worth it...
You get benifits After 1 year and 18 months for family now!
Drivers work 12+ HOURS A DAY. You have to put in a request for an 8 hour day only!
They are firing people like crazy with insurance, and high pay! You use to have to wait 5+ years to go drive, now 6 months Max.
