the most difficult in quitting smoking is getting rid of cigarette habit. It's not about nicotine, it's all about picking, lighting, inhaling - the whole process that you (seem to) enjoy.

1. get lots of chewing gum, nuts, fruits, candies, water
2. throw away ANY tobacco
3. get yourself locked for 3-4 days, preferrably alone, where nobody's smoking around you.
4. tell EVERYONE you're quitting - that's an important step, this way you realize that if you don't quit people will think you're liar/unrealiable. ALSO be aware that you're going nuts for the first 3 days - irritated, angry, bashing people for no reason. That's why oyu'd rather survive it alone.
5. get yourself a buisness to do. You MUST be busy with something: work, hobby, gaming, whatever can be done alone, just to stay away from the thoughts of cigarette.
6.Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking - many of my friends indeed quit smoking with the book.
7. option - you may want to get a couple of nicotine chewing gums - but just a couple, so you could stand the cancellation syndrome without smoking "just the last last single one cigarette".

Get that all together and it's 95% you'll successfully quit smoking.

Anything else (like going to lighter cigs, nicotine patch etc) is bullshit IMO.
