Statistically, it's almost certain that most of the people in this thread have been exposed to the HPV virus. * assuming webmasters are sexually-active.

I have 4 month old twins and have been researching like crazy about all of the vaccines out there. I found that with most vaccines, you have a higher chance of suffering a significant side effect than actually contracting whatever it aimes to protect you against. Also, pretty much all vaccines out there only protect you for a couple of years, so unless you are getting regular boosters, they are useless by the time you reach adulthood. Even my pediatrician (who is very mainstream), thinks that certain vaccines are completely unnecessary and has no idea why they are required, except that they create an insane revenue for drug companies.. such as Hepatitis B.

As far as the HPV vaccine, it only protects you against 2 out of 16 strands of HPV. So even if you have the vaccine and it works as it is supposed to, you still have a high chance of contracting one of the other 14 strands of the virus... all the while taking great chances with unknown long-term side effects of the vaccine.

The good thing is that most, if not all, states have a religious exemption. Parents can fill out a form stating that they have religious beliefs against vaccinations and proof of vaccinations will not be required for school. The only downside to this exemption is that if you choose to use it, you cant get any vaccines, otherwise the exemption wont apply. Some states also have a philosophical exemption, which allows you to pick and choose the vaccines you get for your kids.

Granted, it's a new vaccine. So I'm torn.
              1. You have a vaccine that can prevent forms of cervical cancer.
              2. You have a new vaccine that could cause other issues later on that haven't been tested.

              *shrug*

I think it should be done everywhere. I have this virus and can't get rid of it. I wished my daughter wouldn't have that problem.

You know that a pregnant woman will give this virus to her child? That means that her baby will have to grow up with this virus without even knowing it, and that would probably develope to cervical cancer.
Don't you think a woman would like to take the risk of the knew vaccine to prevent the future generation from that desase?

Before these H.P.V commercials that are on about every 30 seconds, when else have you heard of H.P.V?

Me, never. Not once before those commercials. I don't plan on getting it and my daughter will not get it, if at some point they tell her she needs to. They tell you that you need this this and this for your children to be safe, but you have no clue what they are injecting into your kids, and I don't feel too safe about that. I don't know enough about this H.P.V epidemic to inject my daughter so I'm not. For all the parents who say " any parents not considering this is stupid" bla bla bla. Doctors don't know everything, so don't always take their word at face value. And trust your government...nah I don't think so. I'm better off looking after myself, thanks.

                            They're not the same fuckers.

Eisenhower recommended, under advice from the Surgeon General, that the Congress enact legislation for a polio vaccination program.

I'm not against the vaccine. I'm against a politician bypassing the legislative process, under dubious circumstances, to mandate that the HPV vaccination be given to all the 11 and 12 year-old girls in Texas.

In my case, I'm a mother of two. I just don't believe in over medicating my kids. I don't believe in giving antibiotics for everything. Call me crazy or lucky, but I don't use the medical system very much.

I still do not believe giving my daughter a shot when her reproductive system is developing is a good thing. By the time she gets to that age, my mind may change - if there are problems with the shots, hopefully by then there will be enough 'cases' to allow me to judge the risks & benefits better.

I do not think that the government knows what's best for my children. I do not think that the government knows my children's medical history hence they should not be 'blanket' recommending it - (I read that you do have the choice to refuse it).
