I am in the same boat in NYC the cheapest co-op 2b/2b we like is over 300k plus 1,100 maintenance, then you need to send your kids to private school, and we just got into a higher tax bracket....and every fucking thing is going up in price except my 9-5 salary. I still have family here, and enjoy playing the sport of one-wall Handball which is huge in NYC. I think eventually I will end up in Cali or somewhere warm all year myself. hmmmm paradise

Actually you can live very cheaply on the east side of the big island.. Land is super cheap. You can get acres from 10 - 30k. Plus you can grow all your own food. I don't know where you bought your apple from but the farmers markets are super cheap on the big island. Plus no snakes.. they do have centipedes and an erupting volcano but hey its exciting.
