You make a good point. The poor do eat a lot of fast food, but the funny thing about that is that it is not cheaper than buying regular food. I think it really points to a greater problem in this country which is a lack of understanding about money.
A poor person with a kid sees going to McDonalds and spending $10 as a cheap way to feed their kid and themselves. But if they do that 4-5 days a week every week it quickly becomes a couple hundred dollars a month. For that amount of money they could buy decent meat, veggies and actually healthy food. Of course it would also call on them to cook them and make meals. But I think there are a lot of people who see $200 a month for groceries and say, "I can't afford that." But they see $10 a day and think they can.
