About selling domains..

transfer it into their account, for example on registefly you can just use the "change of ownership" button

Normally you "push" the domains over to the new buyer.

Lets say you have XShadyX.com & it is registered at Go Daddy. You sell me the name for X amount of dollars. I pay you lets say with Paypal. When I send you payment, I also send you my Go Daddy account info.

So a name, address, phone #, & e-mail address. You then in turn would go to the manage account area in your Member control panel & select account change & fill out the info.

I would in turn get an e-mail with codes, & a link. I go to the link, fill in the codes I was sent & they push the name from your account to mine.

Domainers call these pushes as to not confuse people with transfers which involve the name going from lets say Go Daddy to Moniker.

Most companies offer free pushes & they are usually executed in some sort of similar matter to what I described.

P.S. Usually one can put in any info they want & the new owner can change it afterwards. The e-mail address has to be valid though.

How about on Namecheap? Just transfer it?

With Namecheap:

You login to your account & go to manage domains. When you are there, click on the name in particular. On the left hand side under Advanced Options, you will see "Push Domain To User".

On the next screen you will see the domain name you clicked on in bold. Your username in bold is underneath that.

You would enter in your account password in the next line. The line below that is where you enter the username of the person's account you are pushing the name to. You then choose if you want the whois contact info to stay as is or automatically change to the new account holder's info. Click the button & you are done.

Ahhh ok. Seems pretty simple then.. if they don't have name cheap and i Just push it to whoever or do they have to have it?

To execute a push, the buyer must have an account at the place where the name is registered at. If they don't & want it at their company of choice, a transfer will have to occur & that can take a few days.

Also note no matter where you register names at, you can not transfer them to a different company for the first 60 days. However you can push to another customer without issue.
