A lot of re-makes of foreign language films don't seem to work as well as the original although i'm sure if you watched them as re-make then original you would be thinking the original was the one lacking.
I watch quite a lot of foreign films as I don't mind having to read subtitles and something really obscure that probably only ends up being watched by about 12 people in the world can often be a very good film that would have just needed decent promotion but i'm really crap at remembering names.

I am a big fan of world cinema and know very well that most do not work. No, most of the times the original is vastly better than the remake and there isn't a comparison at all. I was ranting about just that when somebody set me the task to find five that *did* work
Luckily, I knew the five and am just re-watching them so they are fresh in my mind.
