When a car stops in front of you when you are not expecting it in heavy traffic on a wet slippery road, ABS saves you from going down due to too much sudden application of front brake.
Those that say they ride well enough to not need it are just fooling themselves.
As to claims it effects the "feel" of the brakes - that's BS too.

What kind of bikes? And to be honest, you should not be following a car so close (rain or not) that its sudden stop makes you fall down. I have never had that happen to me and I was riding before Dave was a gleam in his father's eye.
