FUCK XBIZ and ICM

Did anyone bother to READ that release?

Here it is

"HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — With the resurgence of the .XXX sTLD, the XBIZ Hollywood ’07 Conference has invited ICM President Stuart Lawley to be a seminar panelist for a discussion on how the adult entertainment industry and the domain registrar can work to develop a productive relationship if and when the adult-specific domain becomes a reality.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity to listen to and speak with ICM — a force that will likely shape the landscape of adult entertainment online in the years to come, if .XXX becomes a reality,” XBIZ Publisher Tom Hymes said. “I invite all adult entertainment industry professionals to attend the panel on the assumption that .XXX will pass. The question that the panel and the attendees must address is, ‘What happens now?’”

ICRA CEO Stephen Balkam and attorney Robert Corn-Revere of Washington-D.C.-based law firm Hogan & Hartson will join Lawley on the panel, which will be Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

The XBIZ Hollywood '07 Industry Conference is the adult entertainment industry's next-generation annual conference. Set against the Hollywood glamour of the Roosevelt Hotel, the event will unite the power centers of the industry for two days of intensive workshops, seminars and networking opportunities. The conference takes place Feb. 7-8, and culminates with the 5th Annual XBIZ Awards at the Highlands on Feb. 8.

“I invite all adult entertainment industry professionals to attend the panel on the assumption that .XXX will pass. The question that the panel and the attendees must address is, ‘What happens now?’”

Fuck assuming it will pass and fuck you Tom, for starting a panel on that premise!

The way I read it you aren't going to be debating whether or not its a good idea you are going to be talking about how you want it implemented....as if you have any say so.

You want to make a statement, dont let them ramrod the idea down your throat that its a done deal, if they wont let you speak out against .XXX tell themn to fuck off and walk out en masse.

Shame on XBiz for this cowardly act, put Lawley in front of us and make him argue that .xxx is a good idea instead of how he plans to line his pockets with out money.

Its very hard to take you seriously when you kiss ass ,on shows that is how you make your living. This isnt debating .xxx this is accepting that they won already.How does this look to Icann that they are invited to a Adult show. 2257 is a government regulation that puts no money in anyones pocket and no sites are blocked because of 2257. Sounds to me like a good idea, you get to voice your opinion about their proposal on the "Premise" of passing. SO what exactly is wrong with that? Think of it this way, at least we get to talk about it, not like what happened when the new 2257 rules came into effect with everyone wondering WTF are the rules!
Yes we could say fuck you and then deal with it when they pass it because no one has told them what a fucked idea it is!

Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants

You could ask what Lawley/XBiz assume they actually have to offer this industry as a whole or any webmaster in it. I can't think of anything other than self-glorification and leeching.

This in my mind puts XBiz directly on the side of the people looking to kill off competition and basically wipe out the affiliate side of the business by making existing domains worthless, and allowing the rich companies to pre-buy all the decent XXX domains and essentially squatting on the entire adult industry.

I am truly disappointed to see where XBiz has ended up.

The way I see it, by inviting them, or even allowing anyone from ICM to attend, we as an industry are supporting their cause by allowing them to be "on our level". To me this is not a sign of rejection but of acceptance of .XXX by the online adult business.

That raises the question of why would anyone in this industry attend a "conference" and listen to this bullshit. It has nothing to do with the adult industry and akin to inviting alcoholics to speak at a bartenders gathering and advise them of a way forward in their industry.

Anyone remember the Andy Edmonds-on-a-panel at Cybernet New Orleans?

Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
