    That is bubbles, but we have confettis. Total we have 4 snow (bubble snow) makers and 1 HUGE confetti gun... and I mean HUGE.

    We have 2 Co2 canons too like Coco Bunga.

    1 fulltime cleaner, 4 part time, and one maintenance guy that's there 4 days a week.

        You have to create a culture arround something like that wich is very hard and takes a lot of ressources, but if you can do it, it's great marketing. Personally what we do is have different talent (tam tams, electronic violon, harmonica, drums, signers etc) come in every night and perform with the DJ. People never know what they are going to get before they get there.

            BTW Sleazy I say fuck promoters. I had 8 motivated ones, and when I started doing the same thing I ended up grabbing 90 % of their guests on my own... You just need to have high penetration on the web nowdays, nightlife clients are definitly connected.

            - Build a good website (mine averages over 500 pageviews a day, the nights we are open more then 1000)

            - Use a good CRM to collect data (sms, email addys, bdays promotions etc) that automaticly contact them when I need too (eg offer them a limo ride and guestlist for bdays). I have about 12 000 entries in it. Got most of them through contests etc. We bought a limo for that



            I also have a huge network on facebook (over 10 000 people too)

            And our social network (reaching over 12k 18 to 35 weekly).

            Except students groups I don't need promoters anymore, way less hassle.

                                Also, can't really tell by these pictures but make sure the female bartenders are hot. Great for business.

                                        If you are opening a new place, why not diversify? Make it a rock-alt venue for example.

                                        If you stick to what you are already doing successfully, your new place will just be taking away business from your current place and likely not attracting many new people.

                                        Example, say currently you have 10,000 people in town interested in the kind of music and club you have now, that attend your place. A new club opening of the same style, maybe will draw a few new faces who tried the old one and didn't like something specific (maybe the night they went there the service was bad, or there was an issue, etc... but they still like that style place). So say you open the new one and now the old one has 5000 people and the new one has 7000 for 12000.

                                        If you have a completely different type of place, you appeal to a completely different demographic. In this case maybe you're old place still gets its 10,000 people and the new place gets another 8,000.

                                        The Rock culture is changing from broke kids wanting to hear good music while spending the last 8$ they have on tow beers, to people with a lot of disposable income who would love spending it at a high-class rock lounge for example. Not many of those around that I know of in Montreal/Sherbrooke.

                                        As for actual tips, I think service if the most important factor. A lot of places hire attractive bartenders who don't know wtf they are doing. These places lose money by the handfuls. Attractive is very good, but attractive and skilled is better. People don't like to wait for drinks long before losing interest.

                                            He was just denied parole again because he got busted with drugs. May end up waiting many more years.

                                            Then, as the club owner, you can get your own cool eye patch! I don't have advice on how to handle the feds.

                                                If you already own a successful night club just modify the format you have to fit the town you're opening it in. I worked in clubs for about 3 years (albeit strip clubs versus night clubs) but I got my start working at a super popular night club that had two themes going on.

                                                If you need a GM I wouldn't mind moving up to Canada.

                                                        i agree you end up taking all the promoters clients - most ARE turds...but you asked info for starting a NEW venue... if you have the leads use em!. if you don't use promoters till you don't need em. It never hurts to cycle one in now and then that can bring in a new crowd of people too....


                                                        a little info you're probably already doing but never hurts to throw out there....

                                                        I ran an average of 5000 invites for most events I threw - only a 450 person club though...... many events got over 10K out - I'd average 300 people coming from 5000 invites or so (300 was a perfect number for a great night at my club for it's size - not too packed but still very busy)....

                                                        the internet is a great way to promote, i did most of my promotion through it.

                                                        I'd also take tons of hot girls up to my office and offer a few free drinks if they invite all their friends on facebook to future events. Most hot girls have 1000 friends on facebook. I made sure they did it in front of me - bar sluts always lie LOL - but by having the invites come from different people all the time I found they got better exposure, and when it came from a hot girl that hadn't ever sent out many invites to anything before I got the best results... My feeling was if they came from the same person all the time they started to get ignored. After having several new people hit their lists up, a week before then I'd use my and staff's in house lists to overlap what had been sent out.

                                                        anyway good luck with it! From what I hear Montreal is a much better city to work with in the liquer business. I've always loved the night clubs there.

                                                                            As far as bathroom goes, I think we have some of the best, if not the best bathrooms for a club in eastern canada. We have a total of 5 different service rooms (1 private, 4 public) arround the club.

I want to see everyone, hands down. That's a night out. I also prefer to party in clubs with levels for the same reason. I want to see as many people as possible so that I can find the right people to party with... or so they can find me.

                                                                                                            Coco Bongo in Play Del Carmen was prob the best party place I was ever at, not to mention the show. It was so well designed. I've spent nights trying to figure out how to bring that concept to Montreal. Still missing a few pieces to that puzzle... such as how to get Canadians pissed on $60, have a full troupe of performers, be able to clean up after they shoot all that crap all over the bar every night and still turn a profit. :0)

                                                                                                                        i cant remember the name, in Berlin has a very ludicrus stict entry policy and wont allow 50%~ in. yet the best rated one in the world.

                                                                                                                        Try looking at some of the lighting effects used in sensation dance events, they are crazy, some of the best i have seen.

                                                                                                                        Also an idea is you could do a day club like fuse in london or space in ibizia for those who want to continue the party during the day. Obviously licenses for that could be quite difficult.

I order two crown and cokes and then switch to bottles of beer which I had two. I ask for my check and she brings me a generic slip saying Misc total $38.xx I just looked at her and said seriously? I said let me see what you have me down for. She returns and says I have you down for two crown and cokes from me and two from the other waitress then two beers from me again. Did she really think I was that lit from that small amount of alcohol? I asked if she mistakenly made the drinks doubles or something and she said no that I drank 4 mixed drinks before switching to beers. This is exactly why I hate going out I am already overpaying for drinks in most cases then over and over people try to pull this shit. I give props to the legit business owners but it is so hard to keep a watch on all the employees (if the owners even care). What does this girl gain by this? overcharge me almost 15 dollars to get 15% of that as a tip? I will now punish all waitresses by making them ring out every drink order separately.

I give props to the legit business owners but it is so hard to keep a watch on all the employees (if the owners even care). What does this girl gain by this? overcharge me almost 15 dollars to get 15% of that as a tip? I will now punish all waitresses by making them ring out every drink order separately.

                                                                                                                                                (sorry not directing this to you specifically, I'm just saying I would spend more or be less careful of my spending if I could order a round for me and friends from a vending type machine or some other automated system)

That should not happen and if it does, you need to call the manager and she needs to be on notice. Unless the owners are shady like that. Then you never go back to that bar.

                                                                                                                                                I had an invention idea to do something like you wanted for Hotel Pool Sides. All on computers and you order it, pay it and they just bring it.

                                                                                                                                                But it's on my list of ideas.

                                                                                                                                                                    For many years, Nation in DC was one of the most popular super clubs in the world...people would fly in from four corners of the world to club there.

                                                                                                                                                                    Thursday nights was a party called Alias, goth and alternative clubbing.
                                                                                                                                                                    Friday nights was the legendary Buzz party; as close to a rave in a club as it comes.
                                                                                                                                                                    Saturday nights was the gay party Velvet.
                                                                                                                                                                    Other nights would be one-off shows...usually on Tuesdays if I remember.

                                                                                                                                                                    It was only shut down because the city government sold the land to develop the new Nationals baseball stadium.
