Do 1-800 numbers even matter anymore?

With almost all calls made on cell phones and those cell phone plans not charging for long distance how much do toll free numbers matter anymore? I used to have a 1 800 number for my mainstream biz. Thinking about setting a new line up but wondering if it really still entices more calls like it used to?

Even with free long distance on my cellphone I still like 800 numbers so I can call from home and not use minutes.

I use a 800 # for my main non-adult biz and having it has without a doubt increased sales. I get triple the amount of calls now.

I don't care if it encourages more callers or not. Bottom line is I don't have to give out my direct numbers and as baddog mentioned, I can forward to any number I like. I can also set up multiple options that my cell phone does not have. The best part is I never get blocked calls.

True, but a lot of services offer this now. You don't need a 800.

I think the 800 has some value as it's easy to remember as opposed to some random area code.
