    How does craigslist make money?

    I don't see any ads or fees.

    Maybe Craig don't care about money, he just likes doing this.
    Done.

    The only source of revenue generated by Craigslist is the Job ads. And if I'm not mistaken, they only charge job ad fees in the major cities. Last time I read about it, the site makes around 20 million a year from those ads alone. I think it's only a matter of time before it goes downhill and sells out because Craig's partner in the site got mad at him a few years back and sold his 25% of the company to Ebay.

                    Q: How does craigslist support its operations?
                    A: By charging below-market fees for job ads in 7 cities and for broker apartment listings in NYC.

                    Q: How much are job ads?

                          Ebay / Paypal purchased a large percentage of Craigslist awhile back.

                            I knew the site was worth millions; I think they had a recent offer of 60-80 million and turned it down. I only surfed the site for about 5 minutes and didn't even look in the jobs section. Everything else seemed to be for free;
                            which gave me the impression that they were doing the youtube thing and waiting for a serious buy out.
                            Done.
