I don't know if this has been done or not.
Back when 2257 became a hot issue I stopped doing galleries. This was because I didn't want or need the hassle of keeping the records or tracking down all the content providers I had content from to get all the 2257 docs. Once 2257 became more than me just pointing a link at the content producers site and listing their address it was too much of a hassle to be bothered with. (As a result I have a very large personal porn collection..lol)
I know many other people who got out of the biz at that time too.
So now it is a world of hosted galleries, hosted flvs, hosted everything in order to avoid that hassle.
Has anyone done hosted content yet?
The idea would be for a content provider to host the content that they sell to the webmaster/gallery builder.
They already have to keep the records so that hassle is already covered.
The provider would perhaps have to get a better server then they are using but in many cases they already have the necessary storage space and bandwidth as storage and bandwidth has become extremely cheap compared to back in the day.
It might work something like this:
I (webmaster/gallery builder) buy content package A.
The content provider provides me with links to the images and thumbs provided in the package.
I use the content provider as the 2257 info for the various galleries I build.
So I have better galleries for submission then if I use sponsor provided hosted galleries but I do not have the record keeping/legal hassle.
This could probably be accomplished through a small cms (meaning limited because it really does not have to do much). A combination of the cms and htaccess would keep unlicensed webmasters from hotlinking the content.
The content provider could do it as a sale or as a lease.
There might even be third party opportunities in this thing somewhere.
Anyway, it's just a thought.
