like I said my details are sketchy this would all be MUCH simpler if the identity of this person was simply released so that anyone who may have worked with him can take measures and anyone who didn't can rest easy. If Howard knows who this is he can end all of this with one name, its the responsible thing to do.
Till then nobody knows who has been exposed and who hasn't, if I knew or if I find out I will make that info public.Mike South

I asked that and was told that the Western Blot had already confirmed the positive result, I would never have run the story otherwise.

It really is considering I personally contacted Paul Fishbein and gave him what I had on the story. He said they were short staffed but they would get someone right on it, which I am sure they did.

I personally didnt work with nay male talent from fl while in vegas but i may have worked with someone that worked with someoen that did, this sukcks, hope its just a fasle statement, im freaked dont think ill be shooting for a whileComment

I'm not sure why a few here are coming down on Mike for giving the heads up...it's not like he mentioned anyone's name and falsely accused anyone of having HIV.
He's merely stating what he heard and come on now, isn't it better to be safe then sorry? Sheesh, you'd think that this day in age one would be greatful for a bit of a heads up. It's not like it hasn't happened in this industry before.
I doub't anyone will lose business over this, but it may cause some to be a bit more cautious and diligent when dealing with talent.

Its actually a little more than what I heard....I won't run a story like this without some verification. I heard it from and confirmed it with 2 different people to start with.
Second, to the best of my ability I confirmed that the positive status had been confirmed by the western blot, that was in fact my first move.
Third you have to consider the overall reliability of a source, while its arguable that one source might have had an axe to grind, the other clearly did not.
Next I have to factor in the need to know aspect, and in a situation like this its very high, and that was my #1 reason for going forward with the story. I don't want to alarm and panic anyone but performers/directors and whomever else certainly need and have a right to know.
I didn't run this story to scoop anyone, this is far more important than anyones vanity, I immediately contacted Paul Fishbein at AVN and gave him everything I had...I want this story out and i hope AVN can find out things I can't like a name.
And honestly I don't care if someone wants to shoot the messenger, I have thick skin and honestly don't give a rats ass anyway.

Bump... after taking the time to listen to Oren Cohen in his session at Internext, and hearing him emphasize and re-emphasize how important it is to test, it IS better to keep a heads up on this. Sherie is right in that it is better to be safe than sorry. There is the possiblity that it is a rumor, but Mike is in the right to draw attention to it, because the matter can be searched out and either proved true or false and then be dealt with as necessary.Another of the Mighty Moniker Execs... Apparently "Wicked Pictures Launches VIP Red Carpet Sweepstakes" is more important to them.
I have been thinking about this, and ya know, even if it turns out to only be a rumor, would it really kill the industry to not film non-condom scenes for a few days while it's sorted out? Because if it's true, HIV could be spreading every day, shoot after shoot, until someone comes forward with a name.
Rumor or fact, it should be front page on every industry site, and a sticky on every adult board, to at least make people aware that there could be a serious problem. And if for nothing else, just to remind everyone this could and probably will happen again.Comment
