The last one almost seems clinical and scientific. It doesn't flow which makes me doubt that you could create a whole identity around interracialsex.com (note the "rr" next to each other, another problem). But if the buyer was purchasing to protect a similar site or extend an existing brand maybe it's worth it. IMO there were lots of great deals had at the auction, but this wasn't one of them.

In comparison to an equal entity, interracial.com was over-priced relative to handjob.com and kinkysex.com, but dig is an already developed end-user for the traffic of interracialsex.com. The domain is worth more to him than others, and his time horizon for payback is shorter. So while over-priced, it's not as bad as it looks. Sorry, dig. Still an awesome domain and it's yours!

I suspect, even though I have no numbers handy to back me up, that interracial traffic as a niche is more valuable than most other niche traffic when handled correctly. It has the retention of a microniche and maybe that contributes to the fact that interracial domains tend to cost more than other niche domains with similar or greater numbers. Or maybe I'm rationalizing hahaha

Either way you sound like you know what you're talking about. I should post some domains up and let you grade them ;)

I noticed tonight at the auction that any decent two word domain with the keyword 'amateur' in it did very well. In retrospect I should have listed a bunch of domains in this auction myself... oh well there's always next year.

I own a few (not really many though) good adult typeins and I'd love if your prediction was true (escpecially since I tend to buy names below market prices).

However, I see no reason for the increase of prices of adult domains.

As branding is concerned, you can brand almost any name.

As for typein traffic, that's quite stable, but the overall conversions in adult went significantly down compared to 7 or so years ago (today often the best monetisation technique is domain parking).
And at the same time the price of such typeins domains significantly increased.

So personally I don't see much potential for a further increase anymore.

Not to mention that there's again the risk of ICANN giving the 'green light' to the .XXX domains, which - if implemented - even as voluntary - could slowly gain some popularity and decrease the overall value of adult "dot com" (and also their typein traffic ).

I don't use ICQ anymore.

Hi Polish,

I agree that ICANN and .xxx and lower PPC payouts are a potential threat, but adult names have always have a higher risk threshold and therefore sell for smaller multiples.

It's also true that just about any name can be branded, but some are easier to brand than others. Compare branding greatSexForYouNow.info with HandJobs.com. Which *identity* is going to stick better in user's minds?

I wouldn't touch ussenate.com or fcc.com with a 10 ft. pole, waaaay too likely to bring unwelcome attention from the wrong people.

ok..i was there..

virgin.mobi didnt hit any number..the auctioneer just started going up to 17k..there was no bidder at 17k it was basically what someone set as their reserve..it was the same on almost all the domains that didnt sell or come anywhere near the reserve asked for them.

So a bunch said reserve between 1-5000.00 There was only one I wanted, and I started to bid then they jumped to 100k on it rofl. All the sheets there showed the 1-5000.00 reserve. Kind of shitty.

The problem with .mobi is that it risks loosing it's entire reason for existing (as a "gated community" for WAP compatible sites only) in the next few years, as more and more phone and PDA (like the iPhone) find ways to display regular HTML sites on smaller but ever growing screens.
