This is a ripoff. First, the site would be lucky to make it through the month. Second, whoever does buy it will be sued to oblivion any day now. Sure the domain has good value and someone could turn it into a nice site with nice traffic right away. But in no way is that domain worth that kind of money based on breaking the law.Comment

If it is peekvid, I understand why they wouldn't want you to say the domain name...
Sites like that are pretty much worthless..
I am in the process of buying a similar site.. not streaming movie site, but a warez site offering pirated movies and software for download.
The site was taken off line over a month ago (I am assuming due to legal reasons). It then was sold for friggin $100 to a domainer who is now selling it to me for $300.
The alexa rank is not quite as good as peekvid, but it's got way more incoming yahoo links and over 10x the # of incoming google links.
Problem is, with sites like these, I wouldn't pay more than $300 because you're basically riding on shit traffic for a short period of time. These people are looking for illegal free shit so you're more limited to ppc sales.
And you can't run the site the way the previous owner did if you live in the USA or Canada, unless you're a retard.
The other issue I worry about once this domain gets transferred to my name is that if someone looks at archive.org and assumes I was the one running it when it was illegal..

most reputable sponsors do not allow illegal traffic like this, they might allow ya to use them to begin with and in the end when they find out they'll just freeze your affiliate account without payment..
and even if it was hosted offshore, it wouldn't be difficult for authorities to track down the owner of the site and find out he's in the USA or Canada..
is that what has happened here? are they facing law suits? no affiliates would pay them?

well you obviously wouldnt remove the media they have now, im talking about expanding the site to other videos, funny stuff etc....then that would expand the traffic and people wouldnt be coming there just to watch movies anymore
