That's usually the way it works with expats. They spend a year somewhere and they think they know it all. It takes YEARS, often a lifetime, to truly understand another culture and how to co-exist with them in the proper manner. Just because you can roam about in a tourist hot spot or can dabble in the language, that doesn't mean you know anything about the country or its people.
