Just got back from the sushi place and it was playing on the TV. Pretty fucking stupid really, seemed pretty lame. Everybody sitting in my vicinity was getting a laugh out of it. Not as good a laugh as Uzbekistan's entrance, but it was still pretty laughable the part I saw with the fluorescent indians and the people wandering around in white coats. Seemed like a bad winter themed rave party.

i dunno - Olympic ceremonies feel obliged to get way too symbolic and into the cultural stuff that people in their own country don't know about, no need to educate us, just entertain and inspire us

some parts i've enjoyed - i really feel bad that it's not a snowy setting - Winter Olympics should be held in smaller cities where snow is on the ground - like Lake Placid, Squaw Valley, Lillihammer, Calgary etc Vancouver is too big a city for a Winter Olympics in my opinion - it takes away from the charm the Winter Olympics have always had.

I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

I agree but the problem lays with the logistics involved in hosting the games now, the smaller settings are not going to build a stadium that holds 60k+ people for opening and closing ceremonies. Especially since those facilities will probably never be used for anything else after the game are over

yeah the Beijing olympics show was the best I've ever seen...even if they used some computer generation to display fireworks throught the city for the tv audiance...the fireworks were really only over the birds next stadium.

i thought it was really well done, kinda wish i had gone but i think seeing it on tv let you see everything. i remember going to the opening of expo 86 and it was not nearly as good as this

Didn't Beijing spend like $100 million though? I think that's over 3x what was spent on the Canadian one...
