    Techies: Which CPU is better/faster?

    Hi guys,

    I am thinking about buying one of these two laptops. Can you tell me which will handle multiple applications better (overall best performance)? The key difference I see is Centrino M Vs. Duo.

    Here are the details:

    Laptop1:
    Dell Small Business has a a big $539 off the thin and light 3.8lb Latitude D410 Centrino Notebook Pentium M 740 1.73Ghz, 12in Screen, 1GB/80GB, CD, 802.11g, 3yr warranty, XP, now $799 with Coupon

    Laptop2:

    Tech4less has the refurbished 5.6lb Lenovo 3000 N100 - Intel Core Duo T2300E 1.6 GHz notebook 512MB/80GB, DVD Writer, XP Home, 15.4 inch Ultra-bright WXGA Widescreen on sale for $619.19.


    You will notice the Lenovo has Duo and the Centrino M does not mention that.

    Please let me know your thoughts. I will be running applications like IE, Firefox, Spreadsheet, Word, Outlook and ICQ, MSN and AIM around the clock.

      Apparently the Core Duo has more performance AND uses less battery !

          the core duo is the newer cpu which replaced the penitum m in notebooks. the pentium m is not dual core, it's not as fast

              how much to upgrade to 1 gig of memory on the tech4less

              personally i would go for the tech4less machine since it is easier to upgrade memory than upgrade the processor.

                      Definably dual core, but the battery will last a little longer on the centrino..

                          that is the first generation core duo chipset, the biggest breakthroughs were in the second generation "core 2 duo" chipsets, those are T7400-T7600

                          I would not spend money on a laptop today if its not running a core 2 duo processor.
