For 600/year, I'd say no. It is likely a much better deal for mainstream sites. It costs a lot less.
I use to run some models paysites and a few of them were listed in the yahoo directory (free) and got between 300-500 hits per day. I would suggest getting it into DMOZ first then mention that in the free submission option to Yahoo. Good sites tend to get listed for free.
