Same deal with my first wisdom tooth that got pulled. They couldn't get it out, ended up cracking it in half thinking that would be easier. NOT. My roots are super long and hook *around* my jawbones. The dentist ended up with his foot on the chair next to my head and his assistant pulling on the dentist's shoulders to help get the fucking thing out.
I just had 4 teeth pulled Monday by a real Oral Surgeon (not just a regular dentist). He didn't end up doing what the last dentist did, but he did have a hell of a fight getting the teeth out. Had to keep going back and shooting up one tooth in particular because it wasn't responding to the anesthesia. Think he ended up shooting it 5 times with the little curved needle they've got that hurts a lot worse than the long needles they use (where they flap your cheek around as if this will distract you from the pain of the needle).
Got two pieces of bone sticking out, due in this coming Monday to take out the sutures.
Go back on the 20th to pull 3 more teeth - this time on the bottom.
Good thing is, haven't needed any pain medication afterwards other than ibuprofen or acetominophen. Just sore and stiff jaw from all of the banging it was taking.
Guys trust me on this, I don't care if you don't have insurance, do NOT neglect your teeth. I didn't have insurance and had two kids that sucked the calcium out of my body and my teeth went to hell. After these next three get pulled I've got lots of crowns, bridges, root canals, fillings and porcelain veneers to look forward to...
Don't neglect your teeth.
