I couldn't feel a thing, but holy fuck it was brutal! At one point the nurse was holding my head down one way while the doc was yanking the other with a giant pair of stainless steel toothy pliers, when instead of coming out, the tooth just explodes under the pressure.
So then he had to get some hammer and chisel thing out to chip what was left out of my jaw.
I was alright, but doing surgical extractions without gas or full anasthesia is borderline malpractice imo.

Mine was a molar not too far away from my wisdom teeth. The procedure was pretty much what you described, though. The dentist hooked on to the tooth with a pair of tooth pliers (ever see Little Shop of Horrors?) and just started yanking and twisting. At one point, she actually had her foot up on the chair. I didn't feel a thing, though. I also didn't have any pain afterward, which surprised me a bit.
