Bottom. Let me give you the rest of the juicy details.

The glass was from a broken beer bottle, but not just any beer bottle. Some bottles are still returned for deposit money and people save them up for YEARS. Every once in a while, they get hauled back to the warehouse in big lots. Well, these bottles usually have old stale beer in them and often thousands of tiny fruit flys buzzing around in the bottles. The bottles look and smell bad and often have gooey residue in and on them. These are not clean bottles.

The piece of glass went straight into the foot and, like I said, when I would pull the wound open it would spurt a stream of blood with every heart beat. I am talking power squirts, here. The blood was landing like a yard from where I was sitting. Thenext morning, my foot felt like it weighed 25 pounds; it felt thick and heavy as if someone had pumped a gallon of blood into my foot.

The doctor spent a lot of time digging around in my foot, much to my dismay, and when he finished he told me he couldn't get all the glass and warned me that it could cause more damage over time as my body slowly works to expel it from my foot. I had to get additional x-rays to be sure it wasn't in danger of shifting and cutting a major blood vessel.

Actually, the dentist missed a piece of tooth but I dug it out with my fingernails. I decided not to leave two unnecessary objects floating around in my body.

Here's a final picture for your nightmare: after I got the tooth pulled, I was given a major lecture on the importance of not using a straw or smoking (neither of which I do, fortunately) for a few weeks. Apparently, if you create a vaumn in your mouth you can disturb the scabbing/healing process and end up with something called dry socket (which sounds terrible just from the name) where you have a hole in your gum that leaves the nerves in your jaw exposed to air and other things. Supposedly, it is excruciatingly painful.

Good night.
