That's usually more important than the watts, most average computers don't take up anywhere near 300w. Most PSUs don't have good 12v+ rails, it's cheaper to makem with crappy 12v+ rails. The box or manual probably says how many amps the card needs.

But if ya haven't done so yet, try grabbing the drivers from nvidia.com and use their software in the control panel.
