I finally understood why it is necessary to escalate the troop levels in iraq

We have been bitch-slapping iraq and afghanistan around for a few years now, libya signed a paper saying they will not pursue anything nuclear, we really went there to show the middle east that we mean bizness and get some oil out of it and we want to make sure that our military is not undermined and ensure that we have oil agreements with our friendly government over there. As long as you are the big kid in the playground, you can do what you want

Now I start thinking, how can I use that strategy to my advantage?

Maybe we can get a lobby started with the next president to invade scandinavia and export some hot blondes down this way, cant think of any reason why they can have oil and we cant improve the ratios in the US

Look back in history - he was clueless since taking office, was sinking to pathetic levels before sitting in a schoolroom in Florida staring at kids on 9/11, but managed to find an niche which would appeal to the electorate as "Commander-In-Chief". Since then he has mouthed off, made serious errors of judgement (or more likely intentional "errors"), took the US to war based on nothing, fucked the ecomony, never had one notable achievement since taking office..........

That is one massively successful track record that would be hard to beat. The guy is a deadbeat and an embarassment to the US.

                    The Pentagons New Map (2004)

In a PowerPoint presentation Professor Barnett talked about developing a global perspective that integrates political, economic and military elements in a model for the post-September 11 world. He argued that terrorism and globalization had combined to end the great-power model of war that has developed over 400 years, since the Thirty Years War.

Instead, he divided the world into an increasingly expanding "functioning core" of economically developed, politically stable states integrated into global systems and a "non-integrating gap," the most likely source of threats to U.S. and international security. Professor Barnett used this map to call for a new system for deployment of the U.S. armed forces. Following his remarks he answered questions from military officials in the audience.

Professor Barnett is the author of The Pentagon's New Map: War and Peace in the Twenty-First Century, published by Putnam Publishing Group. In the book he described the changing natures of war, security, and foreign policy in the post-Cold War era. He explained a theory of the effects of globalization that combines security, economic, political, and cultural factors to forecast future military needs. He also uses autobiographical elements to explain the behind the scenes workings of the Pentagon and how his PowerPoint presentation has been used.
