    OK I need some help

I am pretty sure it is a router problem but it is PISSING ME OFF!!!

I keep getting kicked off line from my friends internet. Both my MACs get kicked off. I tried to configure her router better but I end up making it to where none of the computers can get online. I reset the router to the default and that works fine for a few hours with no issues and then BAM! it starts kicking me off again.

Anyone one else have those issues or know what I can do to fix it. She has a lynksis router that is about 2 years old. I heard they aren't the best for macs though.
She also bought an airport extreme today and I am hoping that will help with the problem.

    Anyone?

I hope you get that figured out, I need to see you posting!!
Is she running a mac as well?
Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
    think about that

Yes she has a mac but it is plugged directly in to the internet. This issue is only happening with the wireless it seems.

                    Farallon makes good Mac routers.

Router set-up takes patience - using the manual doesn't hurt either.

If all else fails, have the router company tech support walk you through it. Generally it's just a settings issue.

                    Good luck,

Linksys routers are prone to exactly that type of failure. Had more than one do the exact same thing.

Is there a NIC you connect directly to through a cable on the router? If so, try that and see if you get booted or not. I'm curious to see if this is a wireless issue or a router issue.

try adding a "$" before your WEP/WPA key, on some routers (especially older Linksys i should add) this is a requirement on OSX for some reason, try it and see if it addresses the issue..

                                      Hey.

Linksys always had this problem, a mac directly connected and a pc directly connected and/or wireless, will kick off the pc, don't ask me why, but I have seen that thing in a lot of forums and FAQs

                                          If the problem comes back...

Take an old PC and make it a NAT/Router

Then... you can toss that freakin router and use a switch

A PC Configured as a NAT/Router is FAR More reliable then a stand alone router.

I never... Never have problems I hear my friends talk about with their stand alone routers.

                                          Heres how it works:
1 Internet Connection -into- PC NAT/Router
2 PC NAT/Router -to- NetGear Switch
3 NetGear Switch -to- all other Machines/computers - its plug and play at that point

so far I think the issue is fixed. I think the wireless router was just old and not very compatible with my macs. Should be good to go.
