Amateur Pornographers Face Death Penalty in Iran

TEHRAN, Iran ? An amateur porn movie could net 31 people the death penalty in Iran?s capital city. The group faces death for filming and producing an adult movie that was shot using a cellphone, said Saiid Mortazavi, the president of Tehran?s criminal court.

The group of 31 people also has been charged with sexual assault on the actress in the movie.

According to Mortazavi, the group faces death in accordance with Islamic law. Mortazavi has announced previously that he would sentence to death all those involved in making adult movies of any kind.

Rah/Aki, a daily newspaper in Iran, reported that the topic of homemade porn has been a hot button issue in the country recently, especially since the November 2006 release of a tape starring popular television actress Zahra Amir Ebrahimi engaged in a sexual act.

Iran has a track record of executing amateur adult makers. A man who made adult movies with his wife was publicly hanged in late-2005 and a female porn star was stoned to death after spending eight years in prison for performing in an adult film.

since they are being charged with assualt on the woman, it makes me wonder if this was a porn film with willing participants, or was this a filmed rape? With their attitude about women, you'd think that they would have considered her a slutty, willing participant, not the victim of assault.

What's insane is this is how they treat their own citizens, and they get offended when the entire world wants to stop them from developing nuclear weapons, not that any one country in the world should be armed with such stupid things.

There are plenty of people just about anywhere in the world, including North America, that would gladly hang pornographers, so this "they are 500 years in the past" thing is bullshit, we just happen to have the law on our side, barely, by sheer luck.

I'm surprised they aren't killing her too. Maybe they are.

In another recent case, one girl fought back and killed one of the attackers that were trying to rape her and now she is going to be executed for it.

Ya, but that was a different case. Doesn't say if the female will be executed in the case with the 31 people... the one where they were also charged with assaulting her.
